The IS-120 series includes diffuse and reflector type optical sensors, wherein the light emitter and receiver are mounted in a single housing. The emitting diode operates in the infrared or red region of the spectrum. Light reflected diffusely from the object is partially returned to the receiver. Because energy sensors measure the amount of reflected energy, reflectivity, the shape and color of the object have a large effect on the distance, from which the device can register this object. In optoelectronic sensors with background sensitivity ignored, the angle of light reflected from the object is estimated, thus achieving a longer actuation distance, independent of object properties.
Application:
They are used to register objects on a very bright or highly reflective background.
